From the preface:
"The authors had the interest, opportunity, access and facilities to explore the Himachal Himalayas rather extensively for mushrooms. The present work is part of that continuum. This work deals with the family Amanitaceae. Only 25 taxa in this family have been so far recorded from India and 18 of these are from the N.W. Himalayas. The remaining seven taxa have been described and discussed as has been done by their respective authors. Therefore, the main emphasis has been laid on the species collected and described by the authors from Himachal Himalayas. As such the geographical features of the collecting sites in Himachal Pradesh have been described and discussed in detail because these form the basis for the ecological studies conducted. A brief introduction is followed by the review 1 general terms used in agaricology."
