TrekLink Camera Adaptor

Share |
#180584
NHBS Price: £19.99 | $31/€25 approx.

A simple mechanical connector which allows owners of SLR (single lens reflex) cameras to capture images seen through the Trekker microscope. It is shown above both on and off the camera. Note: an SLR camera is the type with removable lenses and these may be digital, or use conventional film. The TrekLink is not suitable for use with the simple `point-and-shoot' digital cameras.

The TrekLink will require a T mount appropriate to the camera make (purchased separately); the T mount will have the correct bayonet/thread on the rear face to mate with the camera body and an M42 internal thread on the front face which mates with an M42 external thread on the TrekLink. Owing to the very wide range of SLR cameras available we are unable to stock T mounts, but they are widely available from good camera stores.

Taking Pictures with the Trekker Field Microscope and TrekLink Camera Adaptor
* View normally through the camera eyepiece and focus using the thumbwheel on the underside of the microscope
* Exposure is set by altering the shutter speed on the camera body, either on the Auto or Manual setting.
* For thin transparent objects use available light, not the inbuilt light on the Trekker which may generate `hot spots' on the image.
* For solid objects use the in-built Trekker lighting.
* Some experimentation will be necessary to determine the best shutter speed, but very good results can be achieved.
* For those owners with SLRs offering interchangeable screens, a clear screen is the best for viewing the image.
* The easiest results are obtained with digital SLRs as the results can be assessed immediately, enabling the user to quickly find the correct exposure and focus settings.
