About this book

Ecological maps for the seabed and water column of the whole UK sea area are now available for the first time, providing managers and policy-makers with valuable information to be applied at a regional and national level. JNCC has completed a major project to map the UK's seabed and water column. Based on an integrated GIS analysis of a variety of physical and hydrographic data (including seabed substratum; depth; temperature; salinity), ecologically relevant maps have been produced. The maps show over 40 'marine landscape' types and have been validated with biological data. The UKSeaMap report describes the data and methodology used, and includes many detailed colour maps.
