This reference book is packed with recent information on characteristics, ecology, and distribution (in the Netherlands) of more than 400 species. In addition, distribution maps of 180 species are included. Much of the information in this book is recent and has never before been published. Hundreds of dazzling colour photos are used throughout. Lichens are the ideal environmental indicator because they respond to virtually every essential change in the environment--acidification, manure pollution, and, recently, even climate change.
