About this book

This volume presents information on virus infections of all carnivores. The subdivisions have been adjusted towards specialty groups that are interested in a certain species or clusters. They include dogs, cats, non-domestic carnivores (wildlife and zoo animals), ranch animals (ferrets and mink), and pinnipeds (seals and sea lions). Within the subdivisions, chapters are arranged for the different viruses that cause disease. After a brief discussion of the infectious agent, the epizootiology, pathogenesis, disease signs, pathology, immune reaction, laboratory diagnosis, prophylaxis and control are discussed. An attempt is made to include the significant references for further information if needed. This book will be of interest to veterinarians and veterinary students as well as to non-veterinarians who produce, raise, study or employ carnivores.
