This report details the statistics for pollution incidents notified and dealt with by the National Rivers Authority (NRA) during 1995 and looks back on trends since the formation of the NRA in 1989. It provides an analysis of substantiated pollution incidents by both source and type of pollutant and gives an indication of their environmental impact. The report also gives details of legal action taken in respect of these incidents. In addition, the report gives a detailed commentary on how the NRA managed pollution incidents and pollution prevention initiatives, many of which will be continued by the Environment Agency.
