Water pollution is by necessity an interdisciplinary field involving scientists and professionals with a wide range of expertise. It also transcends national borders, since the contamination of water resources is a problem of global concern. The International Conference on Modelling, Monitoring and Prevention of Water Pollution, held biennially in different locations around the world, has been providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest developments in the field since 1991.
