Discoveries of the Census of Marine Life

Dear ICES delegate,

Welcome to the NHBS Marine Biology Catalogue: Autumn 2010

Welcome to the NHBS Marine Science Catalogue, which features all of the books displayed on our stand at the ICES Annual Science Conference in Nantes, 20-24 September 2010.

It was our first time at the conference and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting
the delegates and demonstrating our range of marine science titles. We were asked by a number of congress delegates for a catalogue of the books
we had at our stand, so we produced this list which we hope you will find
valuable. It contains what we believe to be the best selection of recent
publications on marine biology and science. We've also added a few new
titles published this month.

This list only contains a small fraction of our online catalogue of more
than 110,000 books and equipment. For the full catalogue, please visit www.nhbs.com.

For an exclusive interview with Paul Snelgrove about the Census of Marine Life, please visit our blog: www.nhbs.com/hoopoe/

Best wishes,

Dr Nigel Massen

Managing Director

Supporting Conservation

NHBS is involved in supporting conservation at many levels - we consider this a key part of what we do and how we interact with conservation bodies and non-commercial publishers.

Gratis Books
Working in close collaboration with Professor William Sutherland at Cambridge University, we have distributed copies of his Conservation Handbook and Bird Ecology & Conservation to people working in science and conservation in developing countries. Several other titles are in the pipleline.

"Thanks a million for your thoughtfulness. I received the Conservation Handbook. It is very useful to my project. Once again thank you very much and may the good God bless us all as we strive to make the environment a better place to live." J Grody Dorbor, Liberia

World Land Trust
The Books for Conservation programme is an exciting partnership between the World Land Trust and NHBS. From simple beginnings in 2002 when we donated surplus books to the WLT, this programme has developed into an important resource for struggling NGOs throughout the world. To date NHBS have donated hundreds of books to this WLT donation programme.
