Dear
customers,
Welcome to the NHBS Primatology Catalogue: Winter 2008
We present a round-up of new and bestselling titles in primatology as a follow-up to our attendance at the International Primatological Society Congress in Edinburgh this August. We cover primatology in-depth, but also include a wide range of conservation, behaviour, and ecology titles, as well as a small selection from our range of essential field kit.
We interviewed Richard Wrangham, author of Science and Conservation in African Forests on The Hoope, NHBS's Blog. Read our interview to find our more.
This is a selection from over 100,000 titles in wildlife, science and conservation, orderable online, by email, fax, telephone or in writing. To stay informed about all the latest publications, sign up for our free email newsletters by e-mailing subscribenl@nhbs.co.uk.
The wonderful images used to make the catalogue header and banners for this catalogue were taken by J P Moreiras and supplied by Fauna & Flora International (FFI). FFI have projects in a number of countries addressing the urgent and immediate threat of extinction facing many primates. These include projects on the Eastern black crested gibbon and the Tonkin snub-nosed monkey in Vietnam; the world renowned International Gorilla Conservation Programme in Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC); and the white-whiskered spider monkey in northern Mato Grosso, Brazil. Visit Fauna & Flora to find out more about their projects around the world and to become a member or donor.

Supporting Conservation
NHBS is involved in supporting conservation at many levels - we consider
this a key part of what we do and how we interact with conservation
bodies and non-commercial publishers.
Gratis
Books
Working in close collaboration with Professor William Sutherland at
Cambridge University, we have distributed thousands of copies of his Conservation
Handbook and Bird Ecology & Conservation to people working in science and conservation in developing
countries. Find out more about the Gratis Books Scheme.
"Thanks a million for your thoughtfulness. I received the Conservation
Handbook. It is very useful to my project. Once again thank you very
much and may the good God bless us all as we strive to make the environment
a better place to live." J Grody Dorbor, Liberia
World
Land Trust
The Books for Conservation programme is an exciting partnership between
the World Land Trust and NHBS. From simple beginnings in 2002 when we
donated surplus books to the WLT, this programme has developed into
an important resource for struggling NGOs throughout the world. To date
NHBS have donated hundreds of books to this WLT donation programme.
