Dear
Customers,
Welcome to the NHBS Primatology Catalogue: Spring 2009
Hot off the press is the new English-language edition of Virunga: The Survival of Africa's First National Park, which provides a wealth of information on the dynamics and the current status of the park, home to gorillas, okapis, tropical glaciers and the world's largest active volcanoes.
Recently published titles include Orangutans: Geographic Variation in Behavioral Ecology and Conservation - detailing the similarities and differences in orangutan species, subspecies, and populations, and Tinbergen's Legacy: Function and Mechanism in Behavioral Ecology - detailing how Tinbergen's work built the foundations of modern behavioural ecology.
Mountain Gorillas reveals the complex story of the mountain gorillas of the Virunga Volcanoes and Bwindi through stories, scholarships and captivating photography.
Upcoming titles include Ape and Not a Chimp: The Hunt to Find the Genes that Make Us Human.
Our website www.nhbs.com has over 100,000 wildlife, science and conservation titles available for purchase, as well as a wide range of wildlife equipment, including GPS units, headlamps and waterproof notebooks.

Supporting Conservation
NHBS is involved in supporting conservation at many levels - we consider
this a key part of what we do and how we interact with conservation
bodies and non-commercial publishers.
Gratis
Books
Working in close collaboration with Professor William Sutherland at
Cambridge University, we have distributed thousands of copies of his Conservation
Handbook and Bird Ecology & Conservation to people working in science and conservation in developing
countries. Find out more about the Gratis Books Scheme.
"Thanks a million for your thoughtfulness. I received the Conservation
Handbook. It is very useful to my project. Once again thank you very
much and may the good God bless us all as we strive to make the environment
a better place to live." J Grody Dorbor, Liberia
World
Land Trust
The Books for Conservation programme is an exciting partnership between
the World Land Trust and NHBS. From simple beginnings in 2002 when we
donated surplus books to the WLT, this programme has developed into
an important resource for struggling NGOs throughout the world. To date
NHBS have donated hundreds of books to this WLT donation programme.
