Dear customers,

Welcome to the Spring & Summer Catalogue 2006. This is our twice yearly selection of the finest new, forthcoming and best-selling titles in wildlife, science and conservation. We handpick 3500 titles for this catalogue from the 100,000+ titles on www.nhbs.com to bring you a unique selection of the best in natural history and environment publishing.

Science has rarely been far from the headlines in recent months, with avian influenza, climate change, conservation, sustainability and extreme weather all regularly making the news. We will keep you informed about key books being published in these areas on www.nhbs.com.

We try and share any news we have on books as soon as possible! That is why our Blog, our blog, has gone from strength to strength; it is a daily mix of news about natural history books: new announcements, stock updates, special offers and book gossip. Visit www.nhbs.com/hoopoe.

Up to 500 new and forthcoming books are added to www.nhbs.com every month - the NHBS Monthly Catalogue keeps customers around the world informed with a list of these newly added titles. This is the most up-to-date source of information on natural history and environment books - if you are not already a subscriber, email subscribe@nhbs.co.uk to enjoy this fantastic resource every month.

We hope to meet you! NHBS attends numerous conferences and events in Europe and overseas. In 2006 these include the International Ornithological Congress in Hamburg, the British Birdfair in Rutland, and British Ecological Society meetings. Other events that we attend will be listed on the blog.

Happy reading and buying,

Supporting Conservation

NHBS is involved in supporting conservation at many levels - we consider this a key part of what we do and how we interact with conservation bodies and non-commercial publishers.

Gratis Books
Working in close collaboration with Professor William Sutherland at the University of East Anglia, we have distributed copies of his Conservation Handbook and Bird Ecology & Conservation to people working in science and conservation in developing countries. Upcoming titles include Conservation Education and Outreach, and Wildlife Ecology, Conservation and Management.

"Thanks a million for your thoughtfulness. I received the Conservation Handbook. It is very useful to my project. Once again thank you very much and may the good God bless us all as we strive to make the environment a better place to live." J Grody Dorbor, Liberia

World Land Trust
The Books for Conservation programme is an exciting partnership between the World Land Trust and NHBS. From simple beginnings in 2002 when we donated surplus books to the WLT, this programme has developed into an important resource for struggling NGOs throughout the world. To date NHBS have donated hundreds of books to this WLT donation programme.
