Proceedings of a Workshop held in Astrakhan, Russia, 1991. Recent economic development has resulted in the building of numerous dams along the Volga river, with a consequent increase in population, pollution and general degradation of the river. This Workshop was held to assess the potential impact on the internationally important wetlands of the Volga Delta, and to suggest possible solutions.
