Ian B Hart
363 pages, b&w photos.
Pequena

Hardcover | 2006 | £39.00 | approx. $78/€50

#160415 | ISBN-10: 0955292409
This book described the sequence of events which led to the extension of British sovereignty in the Antarctic, the legislation and policing imposed by the Falkland Islands Government to control the burgeoning industry, the impact on the whale populations and the men who seasonally worked the most taxing of natural environments. More especially, following the advent of pelagic whaling in the mid 1920s, it discusses the critical issue of unrestricted free trade on the high seas and the difficulties in regulating that form of whaling.
