About this book

Lake Windermere is a large lake in Cumbria’s Lake District National Park, northwest England. The Freshwater Biological Association has comprehensive and nearly continuous records of chemical measurements of some nutrients in the surface waters of Windermere from 1945 to the present day. Some data are also available for 1938 and 1939. Earlier data exists, collected by the author fortinghtly from November 1931 to October 1932, and is published here for the first time.

The results presented here represent a comprehensive survey, with respect to time and depth, of the temperature and chemical concentrations of oxygen, alkalinity, dissolved reactive phosphorus, dissolved reactive silicon and ammonia nitrogen in Windermere.
