4 species of waterlice and 40 species of woodlice occur outdoors in Britain and Ireland. A further 12 introduced 'alien' species occur in artificial
climates such as glasshouses. This new atlas presents the results of the Non-marine Isopod Recording Scheme to the end of 2007. The scheme has
received 69,633 records for waterlice and 85,950 records for woodlice.
This atlas represents a comprehensive synthesis of the information available on Isopods within Britain and Ireland. The results are presented as distribution maps embedded within species accounts which provide details of identification and particularly key features for separating similar (easily confused) species. Additional guidance is provided on collecting and recording these animals, plus detailed accounts of the biology and conservation of Isopods.
