Natural History of Moths
Mark Young
Moths are more diverse and numerous than butterflies, occupy
a far wider variety of habitats that their lepidopteran counterparts,
yet are a fairly neglected group. This monograph paints a
broad picture of moth biology and ecology: their breeding,
feeding, distribution and life history as well as the specialized
aspects of their behaviour, using many examples from the moth
faunas of Britain and Europe. Their interactions with host
plants, their anti-predator responses, and the threats arising
from the degradation to their natural habitats are also explored.
265 pages, col photos, illus, figs, tabs, maps.

The responsible use of light traps; Successful techniques
for finding and rearing caterpillars; and How to attract moths

Habitat Management for Invertebrates: A Practical Handbook
P Kirby
Many invertebrates are highly specialised creatures with very
precise habitat requirements. This means that they can be
very sensitive indicators of environmental change. It also
means that they can be lost from a site through small changes
in management of their habitat. This book is the first practical
manual covering management for invertebrates: it provides
guidelines to enable reserve managers to take account of the
vulnerable habitat features so important to invertebrates.
150 pages, b/w photos, line illus.
