Since it was founded in 1985, the Rainforest Action Network has
been working to protect tropical rainforests and the human rights
of those living in and around those forests through education,
grassroots organizing, and nonviolent direct action. Founded by
Randy Hayes, RAN is a non-profit, member-based organization. RAN
accomplishes its mission through hard-hitting campaigns that work
to bring corporate and governmental policies into alignment with
popular support for rainforest conservation. Working in alliance
with environmental and human rights groups around the world,
including indigenous forest communities and non-governmental
organizations in rainforest countries.
