Latin American Plant Sciences Network (Red Latinoamericana de
Botnica) is a consortium of six Graduate Training Centers located
in Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
In these Centers, a select number of academically prestigious
Latin American institutions with internationally recognised
scientists collaborate to provide graduate level training
(pre-Masters to Doctoral level) in a variety of areas of the plant
sciences to students from other countries in the Latin
American region. The Centers are also the foci for the
organization of binational research projects, regional graduate
courses and scientific meetings.

AIMS
- To increase the number of trained plant scientists in a region
harboring one-third of the world's plant species
- To promote the development of new centers of botanical
excellence throughout the region
- To reduce critical isolation between scientists of Latin
America, that has impeded the development of a regional voice to
the problems of conservation and resource management
