RAINFOREST MEDICAL FOUNDATION

 

Established in 1991 by a group of physicians in the Netherlands, who realized that the loss of the rainforest is also an enormous loss of resources for both western and non-western medicine. Medicinal plants can play a key-role in forest conservation, once their importance for global health is fully realized. It is a fact that over 25% of our medicines are derived from plants.				AIMS To contribute to the conservation of the tropical rainforest and to support its indigenous people To provide assistance in the battle against negative health effects resulting from rainforest destruction To make medicinal plants an economically viable alternative to logging and other destructive forest use
