The Trust was set up in July 1997 to promote the study,
conservation and management of sharks, skates and rays in the UK
and internationally. The Trust is a member of the European
Elasmobranch Association and supports its work. The Shark Trust
and other EEA member organisations seek to co-ordinate their
efforts to influence and reverse the factors which are threatening
the status of shark populations and fisheries, and to promote and
carry out research. Individuals are invited to support the work of
the EEA by sending their subscriptions or donations to the Shark
Trust. Subscribers will receive regular copies of the Shark Trust
& EEA newsletter and fact sheets, a free entry voucher to any Sea
Life Centre in Europe, and invitations to public meetings of the
Shark Trust and the EEA.
