THE LEPIDOPTERISTS' SOCIETY
|
An international organization of amateurs and professionals
formed in 1947 to promote the scientifically sound and
progressive study of Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths). The
Society publishes two periodicals (News and a peer-reviewed
Journal) and other special publications dealing with Lepidoptera.
There are currently over 1,200 members in 50 countries.
The Lepidopterists' Society is a common ground for amateurs and professionals to share knowledge, skills, and techniques in all aspects of study, from observation and photography to conservation and taxonomy. The biennial Membership Directory is indexed by subjects of interest and geographic location of the member, to facilitate the exchange of information, to find local field assistance, and to find sources of research material. The popular annual Season Summary reports new and interesting records for all of North America (including Mexico). |
