The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) promotes marine
research and education in Scotland.
SAMS Council is encouraging research in new areas of marine
science, and is developing a wide range of activities, including
scientific meetings and a Schools programme. The extent to which
these plans can be implemented depends upon the financial support
of individuals, trusts, universities, public bodies, commerce and
industry. You can play a part in all of this by becoming a member.

- To promote marine research and education in Scotland
- To encourage external research through the award of bursaries,
fellowships and grants
- To raise the awareness of marine science through public
seminars and the Marine Science Degree
