BRITISH ORNITHOLOGISTS' UNION

 
Founded in 1858 by scientists of the day including Prof Alfred Newton FRS. The BOU is one of the world's oldest and most respected ornithological organisations with an international membership stretching across all continents. Membership of the BOU is open to anyone interested in ornithology, birds and birdwatchers, from the local patch birder interested in birds and their conservation, to the university students and professors whose work within the science of ornithology.  
BOU AIMS
  • To encourage the study of birds throughout the world, in order to understand their biology and to aid their conservation
  • To improve understanding of our worlds' birdlife, be it behaviour, population dynamics, breeding biology, taxonomy, habitat use or conservation
