An association registered in Berne, Switzerland, for the purpose of advancing knowledge and information about mountain research and mountain development throughout the world. In pursuing this purpose, it collaborates with like-minded institutions. It also operates a special fund for the support of eligible institutions in developing countries that wish to subscribe to MRD. Membership in IMS is open to institutions, associate membership is open to interested individuals.
