About this book

With its coastal desert, Andean highland and Amazonian rainforest, Peru is host to a highly diverse fauna of aculeate wasps.

This volume lists 1169 wasp species recorded from Peru and includes 252 bibliographic references for their identification. The volume also contains an entomological gazetteer of the 353 localities from where wasps have been recorded in Peru. The study found that most diversity has been recorded from the eastern humid Andean foot-hills like Tingo Maria in Huanuco with 347 different species, whereas the best sampled areas in Peru are Lima and Cusco with more than 40 collecting localities. There are still many uncollected areas in Peru and it is expected that new discoveries are to be made with further collecting.
