About this book

With 200 Bird Songs from Around the World, explore the sights and sounds of 200 of the world's most interesting bird species through beautiful full-colour illustrations, succinct descriptions, and vivid audio recordings of their songs and calls.

Read about and listen to birds from six continents. A beautiful painting illustrates each selection along with concise details about the bird's behavior, environment, and vocalizations. On the built-in digital audio player, hear each bird as it sings or calls in nature with audio of the birds provided by the Macaulay Library at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. 200 Bird Songs from Around the World is divided into six chapters, each devoted to a different continent inhabited by birds. As you turn the pages, you'll meet and hear the noisy toucans of South America, the amazing hornbills of Africa and Asia, the secretive kiwis of New Zealand, the song-mimicking lyrebirds of Australia, and many more. Each continent is represented with at least 25 birds.

With this gorgeous reference, experience the thrill of bird-watching around the world from wherever you are.

Biography

Les Beletsky is a professional bird biologist and natural history expert. Prior to taking up nature writing, he conducted twenty years of behavioural research on birds, concentrating on bird vocalizations and breeding behaviour. He has written or co-written more than thirty-five papers and two books on birds, one of which won an award from The Wildlife Society as "outstanding wildlife ecology book of the year". An avid visitor of bird-watching and wildlife locations across the globe, he has made multiple trips to the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Detecting a need for comprehensive, single-volume guides for travellers interested in wildlife, he created and edited the Ecotravellers' Wildlife Guide series (currently published as the Travellers' Wildlife Guides by Interlink Books). He has written or co-written ten of these wildlife travel guides, which illustrate and describe in detail all the kinds of wildlife, birds in particular, that a traveller to a particular state or country might encounter.
