This DVD shows wildlife film producer Paul Wetton's encounters with British wildlife in 2019. The first three months of 2019 were spent close to home watching birds such as a Firecrest, Water Rail, Black Redstart and a Great Grey Shrike. Paul then headed into the Cairngorms at the end of March catching up with Snow Buntings moulting into breeding plumage and Ptarmigan still showing off their white winter feathers.
He spent a week in North Norfolk at the beginning of April where spring migrants were beginning to arrive and Marsh Harriers were nesting. April was also a month for ducks including Ferruginous Ducks and Scaup at Attenborough Nature Reserve plus Garganey at Potterick Carr. Two of Paul's favourite experiences of 2019 were either side of a fantastic mammal watching holiday in Finland at the end of June. Firstly at the end of April were two early morning trips onto the Welsh moors to watch lekking Black Grouse and secondly another trip up to the Scottish Cairngorms where he was lucky enough to watch Golden Eagles on the nest at the beginning of July.
As the year progressed he headed East where a fantastic Baikal Teal was discovered on Kilnsea Wetlands and Stone Curlews were filmed gathering at Cavenham Heath in Suffolk. We spent two days in Lancashire with the controversial Eastern Black-eared Wheatear at Fluke Hall then had a walk around Lunt Meadows where a pair of American Golden Plover had taken up residence. At the end of the year he watched a wintering Slavonian Grebe at Attenborough Nature Reserve and an Eastern Yellow Wagtail was the last bird seen at Prestwick Carr in Northumberland on the 22 December.
The entire DVD set was filmed in High Definition and widescreen using Pauls Canon XL-H1 and his new Canon SX60. It shows approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes of high quality uncompressed digital video with complete menu accessed using your DVD players remote.
