Árvores da Ilha da Marambaia is a field guide to one of the most diverse forests on the planet: the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica in Portuguese), and is aimed at students of forest sciences, nurseries, seed collectors, dendrologists, teachers, and those curious and passionate about trees. In order to assist with the identification of tree species often found in forest fragments of tjos biome, the book contains photographs of trunks, bark, branches, leaves and flowers of more than 100 tree species and contains tips that are critical to the recognition of these in the field. The guide also has an identification key; a chapter that describes the most important vegetative characteristics, which will help to botanical researchers classify many tree species down to family level. Although the book has been developed for the Ilha da Marambaia, an island off the coast of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, it can be used in various regions of the Atlantic Forest.
