About this book

Language: Czech with multilingual index and English, German, Czech, and scientific nomenclature

In this atlas, the authors, all renowned ornithologists, focus on interesting, typical and rare species of birds inhabiting the Bohemian Forest, known in Czech as Šumava, a low mountain range in Central Europe. Many of these species of course occur in other locations in South and Central Europe in general. There is a general introductory part on the typical habitats, taxonomy, description of the anatomy and appearance of this group of animals. The main part of the book consists of descriptions of individual representatives of the avifauna with many photographs, taken by many famous photographers and specialists, and includes distribution maps. The publication concludes with a bibliography and multilingual name index.

Summary in Czech:
Autoři knihy, všichni renomovaní ornitologové, se v novém Atlasu zaměřují na zajímavé, typické i vzácné druhy ptáků, obývajících oblasti Šumavy, Novohradských hor, ale pochopitelně ve většině případů i další lokality jihočeského regionu a střední Evropy obecně. Nechybí úvodní obecná část o typických stanovištích, taxonomii, popis anatomie a životních projevů této skupiny živočichů. Hlavní část knihy tvoří popisy jednotlivých zástupců ptačí fauny s bohatým fotografickým doprovodem řady známých fotografů-specialistů a poprvé také se zcela aktuálními mapkami rozšíření. Potřebnou publikaci uzavírá seznam literatury a rejstřík v českém, latinském, německém a anglickém jazyce.
