About this book

Language: Portuguese, with English, Portuguese and scientific nomenclature

The Southeast region of Brazil is home to three important natural areas: the Atlantic Forest, the Cerrado and the Caatinga. This helps us to understand the great diversity of ecosystems and the incredible variety of bird species present in this part of Brazil's territory. Enthusiastic about the region's potential for bird watching, the brothers Daniel and Gabriel Mello decided to start producing this work in mid-2015, shortly after the release of their first book, the Field Guide to the Birds of the Serra dos Órgãos and Surrounding Area, whose reception was quite positive with both the general public and with professional critics. The present work has as its main objective to present 936 bird species that occur in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo by means of 161 photographic plates. The images were carefully worked out and organized in order to facilitate identification in the field. The work is enriched by texts written by ornithologists Francisco Mallet-Rodrigues and Luciano Lima, with information about the species, their conservation status and an overview of the natural domains and ecosystems of the Southeast and their birds.

Summary in Portuguese:
A Região Sudeste do Brasil abriga três importantes domínios naturais: Mata Atlântica, Cerrado e Caatinga.
