The Avifauna Brasileira is the best field guide for Brazilian birds. I grew up in Brazil and moved to Portugal where I graduated as a biologist and became a birdwatcher, I got used to field guides from European Fauna and Flora. When I went back to Brazil for vacation a bought a few guides because all the bird field guides that I saw doesn't a good review. When I booked a field trip with a local guide for birdwatching he was using this guide and said that it was the best one, and it was much better than all the ones that I have. It was edited only in Brazil and that's why not none in Europe. The drawings have great detail and quality, as any good guide for European birds. The 2 volumes make all sense, due to the number of species covered. One volume it's a field guide with condensed information about each species and the second volume is detailed information that you can check when you are preparing your field trip or when you come back from it.
