This three volume set is the result of a decade of research between South African, Namibian and German institutions as part of the BIOTA Southern Africa project.
Volume 1 (Patterns at Local Scale - the BIOTA Observatories) reports on the sampling methods and presents the biodiversity baseline data for all observatories involved. Volume 2 (Patterns and Processes at Regional scale) analyses the data in relation to climate and land-use change, whilst Volume 3 (Implications for Landuse and Management) combines the results from the various disciplines, linking the findings of the natural sciences to socioeconomic perspectives.
