Designed and manufactured in the UK, the BT10 Bat Tube aims to maximise ease of installation whilst still providing a suitable roost space for bats by replicating the crevices found within masonry and stone walls.

Its dimensions match those of a standard UK breeze block meaning it is easy to build into the blockwork of a new building or retrofitted to an existing property. It also has a roughened outer texture to aid in the application of a render, which ensures the box sits more discretely into the fabric of the building. The box features a crevice shaped entrance with a sloping floor to prevent the accumulation of droppings and doubles up as a bat ladder, providing bats with a space to land and climb up into the box. The internal walls are also roughened to provide bats with an easy surface to grip onto when climbing up the box.

The BT10 should be positioned at least 4m from ground level, away from artificial light sources and in proximity to vegetation and linear features like hedgerows, which bats rely on for navigation and food. The Bat Block does not require maintenance as the design allows droppings to fall from the entrance and the lack of any biodegradable materials ensures it has a long lifespan.
