These books combine the results of red list evaluations of recent years and adjust and improve the Chinese reptile classification system based on recent taxonomic research results. The red data book covers 475 species of reptiles in China and concludes that 145 species are threatened (including three levels of critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable), accounting for about 30.5% of the total. For all species assessed, the books provide relevant information, including taxonomic status, assessment information, geographic distribution, population status, habitat and ecosystem, threats, protection levels, protection actions, and related documents.
