About this book

This book looks at four topics in environmental science: Extreme Weather explores the extreme weather features of explosive frontal cyclones, hurricanes and tornadoes. Atmospheric Chemistry and Pollution provides an introduction to atmospheric chemistry and the part it plays in maintaining the complex chemical composition of the natural atmosphere. It concludes with a look at the influence of human intervention and ozone pollution. Wetlands and the Carbon Cycle discusses the characteristics and different types of wetlands and takes a detailed look at wetland carbon cycling at both local and global levels. Cryosphere is concerned with ice on Earth, on land, underground and in the oceans. This topic also examines the interactions between the cryosphere and people, and its role in environmental change. Throughout the book there are questions and activities for the reader to engage with. Answers and explanations are provided at the end of each section.
