Interspersed throughout you'll find such favourite "Traveler" features as - in-depth write-ups highlighting South Africa's cultural, historical, and contemporary subjects; for example: treasure wrecks off its wave-thrashed shores, its glorious seafood, and the big five animals that every safari-goer hopes to see.Experiential sidebars abound, including one about going on safari, and another about helping to build houses in Namaqualand. Among the guided walks and drives you'll enjoy a drive through Hluhluwe and Umfolosi wildlife park and a history walk to freedom in Cape Town. The book is rounded out with a generous Travelwise section, containing practical information on how to travel to and around South Africa, as well as author-picked hotels and restaurants, shopping, and entertainment and activities.
