About this book

Language: English with bilingual summary in English and Spanish

The Ecuadorian members of the tribe Hippotideae (Rubiaceae) are revised. There are three genera and 22 species documented from, or considered likely to occur in Ecuador: Hippotis (7 spp.), Pentagonia (13 spp.), and Sommera (2 spp.). Five species are described as new: Hippotis comosa, Pentagonia breviloba, P. microcarpa, P. subsessilis and P. villosula. One new combination is made, Pentagonia amazonica (Ducke) L. Andersson & J. Rova. All taxa are described, keys are provided for each genus, and specimens are cited for all species. Selected species are illustrated.
