The genus Psychotria, the largest of the family Rubiaceae, includes several hundred species, widespread in all tropical regions. The present work constitutes the first taxonomic revision of all the species of the genus Psychotria of West and Central Africa since 1966. It presents a synthesis of knowledge on the morphology, ecology, distribution, and local uses and names of 240 species, of which 85 are new to science.
