About this book

A successor to two earlier works, Scarce Migrant Birds in Britain & Ireland (Sharrock, 1974) and Rare Birds in Britain & Ireland (Sharrock, 1976). It unifies and updates data from both books, adding more than 80 species to the previous total. It is an analysis of some 45,000 records of scarce and rare birds during the period 1958-1985, together with extreme rarities that occurred outside the period. More than 300 species accounts are given, accompanied by histograms of weekly and seasonal occurrence, distribution maps by county for spring and autumn, and precise information for each record.

Digital reprint of a book originally published in 1989.
