About this book

Language: English

The Indian literature on trematode parasites of freshwater fish is scattered and helminthologits working on this group face great difficulties in procuring literature of Indian works. This prompted the authors to compile the available information. In the present compilation they have recorded most of the species and genera from their orginal descriptions (even if they are synonymised by subsequent workers), with their hosts and localities, although comments have been given at some places. Since the types and voucher specimens are not available for study, the authors feel that until redescription is done from type hosts and localities, exact placement is not possible. The classification given by Prof. H.R. Mehra is being followed, by and large, in the present contribution.
