Orchidaceae is one of the largest families of monocotyledons having high floricultural and medicinal values. Orchids are well known for their beautiful flower and are equally admired by hobbyists, botanists and laymen. Dendrobium Orchids of Northeast India presents a systematic account of 97 Dendrobium species occurring in Northeast India with detailed descriptions, keys to the sections and species for easy identification. It is accompanied by 90 ink illustrations, 67 photographic plates with more than 250 colour photographs, 54 photographic illustrations and with other relevant notes of each available species that has been incorporated in the book. The publication hopes to act as a precursor to the detailed Dendrobium genus of Northeast India and expect to be highly helpful to botanists, especially orchidologists, taxonomists, foresters, environmentalists, horticulturists, pharmacologists and planners in their research and management programmes.
