About this book

Language: German

In addition to Soviet, British and American researchers, German biologists were also involved in the development of the modern evolutionary synthesis. Junker refers to the broad international network, in which, next to the Anglo-American researchers, scientists from the Soviet Union and Germany played a central role. Ideological and political struggles of the time indeed hampered close cooperation, but did not stop it. The common goal was to reform Charles Darwin's theories about the evolution of organisms on the basis of new biological insights from genetics, population genetics, systematics and palaeontology. To date, this modernized Darwinism forms the theoretical core of scientific evolutionary biology.
