About this book

Describes the Kluane Boreal Forest Ecosystem Project which operated from 1986 to 1996 in the southwestern Yukon. Beginning with a description of the area and the background behind the project, it then goes on to examine the three trophic levels of plants, the herbivores, and the predators in detail to provide some answers about how the individual species operate within the overall system. Finally, they synthesize their findings in a model of the boreal forest vertebrate community, and provide an overview of what they have discovered and what remains to be done.

... interesting and well presented study ... The authors ought to be commended for their painstaking study and effort covering about 25 years of research work that addresses topics of importance to the conservation of boreal forests. International Journal of Environmental Studies "This book is the story of the Kluane Boreal Forest Ecosystem Project, told brilliantly by the researchers who toiled for ten years from 1986 to uncover the drama and complexity of this Canadian ecosystem" NATURE
