About this product

This educational bug hunting kit contains:

* Sweep net
* Magnifying bug pot with measurement grid on base
* Pooter
* 5 x 60ml Collecting pots
* AIDGAP guide `A key to the major groups of British Terrestrial Invertebrates

The kit is ideal for Key Stage 3 / 4 and above, although with a bit of guidance, the AIDGAP guide is still easily accessible for younger children. Non-specialists will be able to identify living animals encountered in most terrestrial and semi-terrestrial habitats. Designed for use with living animals collected using standard sampling techniques. Characters which require considerable expertise have been avoided. Ecological notes for each group are also included. As identification of living animals is possible, specimens can be released back into the wild after identification.

The kit also includes all the equipment needed to catch and study specimens. The sweep net features a 30cm diameter net and a foam grip handle. The net has a reinforced collar and is suitable for collecting invertebrates in grasses, bracken and other non-coarse vegetation. The 3.5x magnifying pot has a grid on its base for estimating size and the five collecting pots can be used to hold specimens for further study. Make sure, though, to return them when you've finished.
