Elizabeth Blackwell (1707-1758) was one of the first women to gain notoriety as a botanical illustrator. 'A Curious Herbal', published between 1737 and 1739, featured five hundred of her drawings and was designed as a reference work on medicinal plants for the use of physicians and apothecaries. This stylish calendar contains twelve of her drawings and will be a favourite with both botanists and gardeners.
