Ernst Haeckel (1934-1919) was a German physician, philosopher, naturalist and artist who was a huge fan and promoter of Charles Darwin’s work. Successfully bridging the gap between science and art, he produced over 100 incredibly detailed illustrations of animals and sea creatures. The twelve illustrations featured in this calendar are from a copy of Kunstformen der Natur in the Case Book Collection in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress.
