The texbook is an extended well-documented and generously illustrated presentation of the cytology of the erythrocyte of the cold-blooded vertebrates.
Its overall objective is to discern and trace the continuum expressed by the erythrocytes found in members of the different phylogenetic Classes that comprise the poikiloterms with the recognition that this "erythrocyte" is the antecedent of the further evolved red cell of mammals (including humans). Included as a road map to assist you on your phylogrnrtic odyssey are taxonomically organizedtables of a broad spectra of fishes, amphibians, and reptilians with their erythroid hemograms as well as an index of the genus and species of all cited animals and a glossary of common names of the animals presented in the text.
