Sunflower Countryside Guides

Originally devised to give people taking advantage of package-holiday prices the flexibility to explore on their own, these excellent guides provide unique collections of tours, walks and picnics in (mostly European) landscapes. Each volume provides a foldout touring map, relevant public transport timetables, detailed descriptions of walks for all ages and abilities, colour photographs of every walk and tour and - the secret of the series' success - large scale walking maps, at least 1:50,000. These maps are often more detailed than other available maps, and are usually printed alongside the relevant part of the text. An additional feature is that there are no details about hotels, restaurants or any of the tourist information which clogs up so many other guides.
