The Po Valley and the Northern Apennines in Italy have a complex geomorphology and are home to a very rich and varied flora. While intensively cultivated and largely deprived of the original vegetation, the Po Valley is a hinge between the Alpine and Apennine areas, with islands of biodiversity of and flora of great interest. Flora della Pianura Padana e dell’Appennino Settentrionale and describes the vascular plants present in this area by ordering them to family, genus and species level.

This photographic flora consists of 2 800 species entries each accompanied by an original photo, a botanical description of the species, data on its biological form, chorology, phenology and rarity. It also shows the distribution within the province, while the mention of similar species, subspecies and cultivars brings the number of taxa described up to 3000.
