About this product

Ex-demo Nest Box Camera System available at discounted price. Has slight aesthetic damage to the roof edge of the nest box, but is watertight, fully functional and will not interfere with nesting birds.

This high resolution nest box camera system from Gardenature is a great way to observe the inhabitants of your nest box from the comfort of your home or classroom. It is very easy to set up and includes everything you need to begin watching straight away.

The nest box is manufactured from high grade western red cedar which is sourced from well managed forests. It is designed following guidelines from the RSPB and BTO and has a 32mm entrance hole which is suitable for blue tits, coal tits, marsh tits, great tits and house sparrows. The front panel can also be removed to create an open fronted nest box, preferred by birds such as robins and wrens. A small sliding drawer in the apex of the nest box houses the camera. The camera is fitted with a quick release bracket which makes it simple to remove if required.

The Sony Effio CCD ultra high resolution (700TVL) camera has an intelligent Sony Effio DSP chip and light sensor. These work in combination to adjust the image quality depending on the environment. Ten infrared night vision LEDs are automatically and gradually turned on as natural light levels diminish, ensuring a consistently high quality image. During the daytime images will be in full colour and at night, or in low light conditions, images are in crisp black and white. A sensitive microphone is also housed within the camera allowing you to hear as well as see what is happening in your box.

The camera is connected to a 30m cable which carries the audio and visual signal to your television as well as the power to the camera. The other end of the cable will need to be routed into your home or classroom. The cable has three connectors: black, yellow and white. The black connector attaches to the 12V DV power adapter and will then plug into a mains socket. The yellow and white connectors plug directly into your TV or Video/DVD recorder either using a spare AV/AUX socket or using the supplied scart adapter. Once connected, and with your television tuned to the correct channel, you are ready to begin watching.
